Facility: Crestwood Center Napa Valley

Job Title: Director of Recreation

Status: Full Time

Shift: AM

Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a bachelor's degree as an occupational therapist, music therapist, dance therapist, art therapist, or recreation therapist.
Must be registered or eligible for registration as an occupational therapist, music therapist, dance therapist, art therapist, or recreation therapist.
Must have a valid California drivers license.
Must have a current CPR certification is preferred.
Must have two (2) years experience in a social or recreational program within the past five (5) years, one year of which was full-time in a client activities program in a health care setting.
Must show leadership qualities of communication within all areas of the organization.
Must demonstrate critical thinking skills.
Must consistently solve problems independently.


Duties:
Communicates with clients to check on physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Establishes and maintains a therapeutic milieu by developing the recreational program to enhance client success in the community.
Assists in the management of assaultive, disruptive, or suicidal clients.
Participates as team member in crisis intervention.
Develops, implements, and supervises the recreation/activities program that includes the following but is not limited to:
social activities
indoor and outdoor activities
activities away from the facility as applicable
religious programs
opportunities for client involvement for planning and implementation of the recreation/activities program
creative activities, which includes arts and crafts
educational activities
exercise activities
special events/holiday program
Supervises recreational staff as applicable.
Evaluates each client according to background, interview, and client recommendations.
Develops appropriate records that indicate client attendance and participation in the program with reference to client responses to the program.
Requests and maintains equipment and supplies.
Establishes an active volunteer program, which includes screening, training, and supervision of volunteers as applicable.
Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service training programs.
Develops methods for effective utilization of community resources.
Posts the current activity schedule for clients and staff.
Documents initial and ongoing rehabilitation plans.
Implements and supervises fund-raising activities.
Notifies the treatment team of recommendations and plans for implementation regarding recreation/activities.
Conducts in-service training.
Works with clients in training capacity, if applicable.
All other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be in good physical condition to meet the demands of an active position, necessitating extensiveness of walking and standing.
Must be able to stoop, crouch, reach, and stand, moving about in work area and throughout facility to accomplish task.
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Must be able to get in and out of vehicles and tolerate one to two hours of driving for transportation of clients.
Must assist with the physical interventions.
