Facility: Crestwood Crisis Stabilization Services

Job Title: Director of Nursing

Status: Full Time

Shift: AM

Minimum Qualifications:
This job is located in Fairfield, CA

Education and Experience:

Current licensure in the State of California as a registered nurse.

CPR and first aid certified.

BSN or master’s degree preferred.

DNS will meet all applicable regulatory standards.

Demonstrated knowledge of DSM-5-TR, NANDA, psychosocial, PSR and recovery principles.

Knowledgeable of all applicable regulations and standards.

Proven ability to work with others, at all levels within the organization, and collaborates effectively.

Above-average interpersonal, problem-solving, and written and oral communication skills.


Duties:
Clinical Responsibilities:

Ensures all clients receive the full spectrum of health care services during length of stay based on objectives as identified in their plan of care.

Maintains confidentiality of all information for clients.

Collaborates with program/clinical director regularly.

Interfaces with facility Medical Directors to ensure high quality, consistent medical care.

Works with clients in training capacity, if applicable.

Ability to assess clients’ mental and physical conditions using nursing process.

Ability to respond to medical and nursing emergencies.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Supervises the activities of employees who report to the Director of Nursing Services.

Ensures performance evaluations are completed following established guidelines.

Manages the department within allocated/budgeted parameters.

Conducts, supervises, or reviews all interviews for staff positions in nursing.

Ensures policy and procedure manuals for the various departments are reviewed and updated according to established facility regulatory agency protocols.

Maintains a working knowledge of standards and regulations governing mental health services.

Provides for regular staff meetings for employees to both provide information and facilitate communication.

Assumes on-call responsibilities as designated.

Maintains adequate staffing and staff schedule.

All other duties as assigned.

Quality Improvement:

Assists in the supervision of and maintenance of the quality improvement program.

Concurrently and retrospectively reviews medical charts to ensure that the goals are functional and realistic and that the criteria for medical necessity are being met.

Demonstrates knowledge of an awareness of the standards of the regulatory, licensing, and accrediting agencies governing the facility.

Marketing and Program Development:

Collaborates in the development of new programs and services.

Functions as liaison to referral sources and the community as indicated to facilitate communication regarding client care and programs that may be utilized by these sources.

Markets the services of the facility to potential referral sources.

Staff Education:

Provides for regular in-service training opportunities that are based on needs identified through competency assessments and new trends and developments in the field of mental health.

Conducts regular meetings and supervisions with personnel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time in a minimum eight (8) hour day for two to three hour increments.

Must be able to move about the facility, into the community, and/or business related trips. Must be able to get in and out of vehicles and tolerate one to two hours of driving.

Must have physical and cognitive ability to assist in an emergency situation such as pushing a wheelchair or bed, or appropriately intervening with clients who may physically and/or verbally act out.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
