4/07/09 - Mental health consumers fear program cuts

FAIRFIELD - A couple of dozen people pleaded with the county Board of Supervisors Tuesday to spare the Neighborhood of Dreams program serving those experiencing mental health challenges. The county has yet to officially propose cutting funding for the program run by Crestwood Behavioral Health. Still, state budget woes trickling down to the county has made this a possibility and some program users wanted to make their voices heard well before the June budget hearings.

7/26/07 - Field of Dreams Brings Supported Education and Employment to Solano County

Field of Dreams, a new farming and business program, empowers people with disabilities and mental health consumers through supported education and employment. The program was created by the Neighborhood of Dreams, developed by Crestwood Behavioral Health and Dreamcatchers Empowerment Network, in collaboration with Solano Community College and Solano County Health and Human Services.

 Anthony Lara, 39, spent 10 years in and out of hospitals before understanding why he heard voices in his head. Lara, a man whose smile produces defined dimples, was told in 1991 he had a chemical imbalance and was given medication to alleviate his problems. But they remained and actually worsened. After 10 years of living a life filled with stress and fear, which nourished his low self-esteem, Lara moved into a board and care facility in Vacaville and was introduced to Donovan's Place in Fairfield, where support, counseling and life skill programs helped him to understand his mental illness of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and insomnia.

8/31/06 - Crestwood Behavioral Health Awarded Three-Year CARF Accreditation

Crestwood Behavioral Health is proud to announce that it has received a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its mental health programs. This is the second accreditation that the international commission has awarded to Crestwood, and it includes the following: Crestwood’s Mental Health Rehabilitation Centers in Angwin, Bakersfield, Eureka, Pleasant Hill, Sacramento, Solano and Vallejo and five Adult Residential Facilities in Bakersfield, Eureka, Fresno, Pleasant Hill and Solano.

8/26/06 - Dreamcatchers Empowerment Network Awarded Three-Year CARF Accreditation

Dreamcatchers Empowerment Network today announced that it has received a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its vocational assessment, training, support and job preparation programs for youth and adults with limitations and disabilities. This is the first accreditation that the international commission has awarded to Dreamcatchers.
